Good one. Don't let your desire for job security inhibit your ability to progress in your career. Thankfully this is a concept I see dying in the tech world. Current generations are far better knowledge sharers than past generations have been. Many of those in past generations got to a point where they wanted to retire, but realized they hadn't built up any of their juniors to replace them.

I was a manager of organization that had 4 sections. The organization now has 6 sections. I am retired now about 3 years or so. 5 of the 6 sections currently have managers that worked gor me. While it doesn’t put money in my pocket, it makes me feel good.
