I guess after Trump's botched pandemic response planted 400k Americans we can forgive Biden less than 20.

Edit:
OK, I looked it up, it was "only" 350k.

Botched? He tried to ban travel from China in January and was called xenophobic and racist. Libs said there's nothing to worry about, take the train to Chinatown and have a great time etc...

MSG Billy Brumfield - I could come up with lots of excuses for Biden too, but Trump botched it. He was guy in charge and the buck stops with him. If the buck stops with Biden in Afghanistan then the buck stops with Trump for COVID.

SPC Kevin Ford There were milestones that had to be met before a withdrawal could occur. Milestones were not met, potato withdrew anyway.

MSG Billy Brumfield - Let's play that out. When Biden took office in 2021 we only had 4,500 troops left in Afghanistan. We were in a very vulnerable position having withdrawn most troops and equipment but the Taliban were not actively attacking us. What would have happened had he announced a pause or stop to the withdrawal? Would we have left the present troop levels or tried to move troops back into Afghanistan? There is almost no scenario that I can imagine that would likely have led to less deaths of service members.

For the sake of argument you are Biden. What would you have done to minimize the possibility of US casualties in Afghanistan? The number you have to beat from what happened is 13. The year before under Trump during the withdrawal was 10 and that includes the agreement period during the withdrawal. In 2019 there 23 casualties. So what would you have done that you are sure would have led to less that 13? Keep in mind, until that attack that killed the 13, we were not being attacked.
