For Trump, it wasn't the matter of paying hush money. His conviction was all about falsifying business records to cover it up as a legitimate business expense (which was fraud on multiple levels).

LTC David Brown - That's an immaterial issue. This wasn't a double trial; there was no requirement to prove that underlying crime. The prosecutors proved what they were required to prove (falsification of business records).
