LTC Eugene Chu Still Not as bad as Before 1981 When the Navy Finally Instituted Weight Standards and started working towards Instituting PT when they figured Out How Many Sailors couldn't pass thru and Escape Hatch on a Ship! There were some "Stout" Boys that I Worked with at CINCPACFLT in 77.

My solution is simple, put all Service members on a diet of C Rats, meals such as Turkey boned, eggs and ham chopped, and of course the perennial favorite Ham and Limas, from personal experience and with a study group over a years duration,no one in said group gained weight, other factors did affect the Situation, vigorous exercise and the scarcity of water did in fact contribute,so let’s crack open a fresh box of packaged in 1956 C rations and watch our troops shed those pounds, Welcome Home Brothers

Those things were horrible back in the day lol not to mention the stainless steel cans coated in polys. My father brought home some from his deployment, 1977, and they were horrible. The only thing eatable was the crackers, too salty cheese, and dessert

Horrible, good choice of description, especially the worst in my humble opinion that being Ham and Limas, couldn’t stand them, always wondered who came up with that recipe, they were also one of the largest cans,so lugging them around the jungle was another lucky strike extra,Peaches and pound cake were our favorites,so became scarcer than hens teeth,on distribution, first ones to the resupply chopper wins!Welcome Home Brothers.
