After working in Ag & Horticulture for 30+ years; this is a tricky law to comprehend. So, federally marijuana can be banned as illegal, but states can regulate and legalize distribution & sales of it. It's how Colorado became so wealthy, the state legalized it and taxed it HEAVILY. Basically the federal government is letting states decide for theirselves whether or not to legalize possession, distribution, sales, and smoking of marijuana. There are a LOT more complexities and stipulations; but this is the most generalistic explanation for description. Also, just because it's legal, companies still have the right to test their employees, and to fire or keep the person if they test positive. Just because it's legal; does not necessarily mean that your employers will accept people using it.
