A person is dead after exchanging gunfire with police at Yellowstone National Park on July 4.
The individual had a firearm and “was making threats” in the Canyon Village area, located in the center of the park. When rangers confronted the person, they opened fire, the park said.
A park ranger was injured in the shooting and is in stable condition at a nearby hospital.

The other day I was browsing through my old HS year books and all 4 of them listed and had photographs of the school's rifle club. The student members actually brought their firearms to school and after school with supervision were transported to the Armory to shoot targets.
When I was 11 years old, I joined this group to learn firearms safety and become a proficient marksman.

There was one crime in the city that occupied everyone's time for decades and as far as I know no firearm was involved.
The problem today is these groups no longer exist. Politicians and other activists have one goal and that is to simply remove all firearms from civilian possession. Nevermind group participation proved successful.
