As a history major, I find this an interesting read. Until the last few lines. The author took a small incident, spun it to fit his narrative and proceed to denigrate an entire half of the nation.
By the way The Age of Enlightenment was a liberal concept, progressive. And, the majority of those rebelling were liberals. In fact the very concept of a free and equal nation is liberal. The conservatives of the day wished to remain with the King.
