A1C Medrick "Rick" DeVaney people who make knowledgeable decisions are enlightened, but saying that abortion is an accepted birth control method is not right. The baloney comes from those who have not thoroughly examined the cause and effects of abortion. A fetus is without rights? The personal choice to use abortion as a birth control is a moral choice that needs to be looked at by those who act and support this philosophy- which to me denies the fetuses right to life and existence.

I have told the story of a young lady at Madigan Army Medical center who requested being sterized. She swore that is what she wanted, and sued to make happen. After a minister, psychiatrist and OBGYN discussed the things involved with she still wanted to be sterilized so she had the procedure. Two years later she meet Mr wonderful and wanted a family. I think Norplant is a better option or IUD as the article suggests

A1C Medrick "Rick" DeVaney that can only be done safely during 1st trimester. After that, it becomes a greater risk to the patient and depending on the state, she may not be able to get one after a certain period. Best way to prevent this is to use IUD, IUS, Implanon, or injectable contraceptive.

A1C Medrick "Rick" DeVaney - Well, This is why your parents taught you to look both ways before you cross the road... As to not get hit by traffic. But if you do cross the road without looking and get hit, there is not "reset" button if you do get hit by traffic, you deal with the consequences of not looking both ways. The problem is there's no responsibility for actions. Oh, and my oldest sibling was born 364 days after my parents were married, so not quite sure where you where going with that??

I cannot understand how any woman in America can sit back and let someone deny them their freedom of choice.

Let me address the issue with a personal note. I have posted this a number of times and usually draws no or very little response, but I will try again. This is fact. This is family history.
Why I support a woman’s right to chose;
In 1956 a young girl got impregnated. The man who did this was her uncle, on her mother’s side of the family. He had been molesting her for 3 years at this time. She had tried to talk to her mother about this before but was told she was imagining the whole thing.
When she realized something was wrong, she went to the school nurse. The nurse informed her she was pregnant. The nurse also informed the girl’s mother.
When the girl got home that day, her mother whipped her and called her terrible names, all the time insisting she, the girl, must have been the one that initiated the sex. The mother insisted her brother would never do such a thing. She then kicked the girl out of the house. She was not to return with a bastard child.
This young girl found a friend whose parents would allow her to stay for a while. They were not informed of the girl’s condition. After a couple of weeks, the girl and her friends concocted a plan. Everyone knew an abortion could be had below the border, so this young girl and a couple of friends drove down to Tijuana. She got her abortion.
On the drive home, that very sad young lady bled to death in the back seat of the car.
She was 15 years old.
She was also my cousin and best friend.

MSG Stan Hutchison that’s very sad. I’m prolife, but I definitely believe that in cases where life of mother is threatened, incest or rape, safe and legal abortions have their place and SHOULD be available. As an OB/GYN NP I can clearly see why you stand where you do. I’m so sorry for your loss.

MSG Stan Hutchison - That is a heart breaking story; however that is an exception, not the rule. Being pregnant as a result of a crime, no one should be force to continue. What I am referring to those who have chosen Abortion as the means of birth control. And as I said before, I personally don't agree with it and do not condone it, but it's not my choice. I don't have to live with the choice. I just don't want tax dollars paying for it.
