Why should gun charges be required to specifically be tracked?

There are no requirements to track clothing store spending, and that is not a Constitutional right.

What valid purpose does the state have to track that information?

So, the state governments that will allow this will now know how often you purchase things in a gun store. That means they will track my purchase of ammo, possibly coffee, gun cleaning supplies, knives, targets, etc.
Thankfully, GA doesn’t allow it, but I also get a discount at my local shop when I play cash.
The only kicker is if I purchase out of state online. I guess I will purchase online from dealers in states which don’t use the code.
With all this said, I am not currently in the market for a new firearm. I do purchase reloading supplies, cleaning supplies and ammo
