good grief. is he not publicly humiliated? even though I felt like I should have received a certain badge while on active duty, it was never awarded and I would wear it... despite the pain and resentment.

Why in the world would you wear a patch you didn't earn? My brother, and many others wear a CIB for a reason. I like the new award of the Combat Action Patch, because lots of men and women who didn't fire a shot, but were in Theater saw as much stuff as the Combat Arms, like Engineers, Medics and Supply guys. One of my friends Daughter's worked flying home the critical wounded from Iraq and Afghanistan, and she saw many of her fellow brothers and sisters pass..often holding her hand for those last moments. And if that doesn't Qualify for a Combat Action Patch...well...

The Republican did serve in the Army but a military watchdog group called Guardian of Valor says he didn't earn the Combat Infantry Badge he wears on his lapel.

That is like wearing a Purple Heart for a paper cut because I was somewhere close to someone shooting.
