Apparently Biden believe junior military members don't deserve 19% pay increases to help with recruiting and inflation issues.

You know as well as I that basic pay increases aren't targeted at junior members. Everyone gets the same percentage increase, and they come from Congress, not the president. Housing allowances on the otherhand can be targeted at junior members.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen Yup I do know that. I also know that Congress is trying to push 19.5% BAH to junior members in the NDAA. And yes, BAH can be specifically aimed at certain ranks. Personally think it should go to all, but that isn't the point.

Maj Kevin "Mac" McLaughlin Not surprising, even if desperately needed, how often do double digit military budget increases succeed? The best strategy has always been small increases over multiple years, a relatively small 5-7% BAH increase would probably sail through, but a 19.5% increase is guaranteed extra scrutiny.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen didn't you say that anyone making over 200K shouldn't get such a raise. Well, I think my point still stands. The President does not think our troops (especially those making way under 200k) should be able to get a substantial raise. A raise which is not as big as even 13% when we're talking about BAH, which is only a fraction of the overall pay when compared to basic pay. It can be targeted, it makes sense because of the inflation, and it would probably help with the low recruiting numbers.
