The California Business and Industrial Alliance (CABIA) said nearly 10,000 jobs have been cut across fast food restaurants since Newsom signed California Assembly Bill 1287 into law last year. To highlight what it says are the unintended consequences of the law, CABIA has taken out an ad in Thursdsay's statewide edition of USA Today with mock "obituaries" of popular fast food brands.

Unintended.... But not unforseen.
This was 100% predicte. Rational people were SCREAMING about this. Emotional people didn't give a flying fig. As long as they got to FEEL BETTER about the people beneath them.

Quite frankly, I am amazed we made it as long as we did. I am one of the VERY VERY few who truly believes in extreme freedom. I admit and - grudgingly - accept that bad outcomes, sometimes even catastrophic ones, are inevitable. I believe, however, that billions of tiny bad outcomes stacked on top of each other, distributed across each and every citizen (and most of the non-citizens, as well) is not a preferable alternative.
If you want to destroy yourself, I have NO CHOICE but to let you. I can attempt to persuade. I can talk, logic, cajole, etc. But I can't stop or prevent you from doing so.
