I had problems sleeping in the past. First due to my on-call issues of being called out in the middle of the night for all manner of reasons. Often it would be too late to go back home so I would catch a nap on a gurney
The second reason was the hardness of our bed. My wife had had back issues for decades and she could only sleep on a rock hard mattress. Considering we had been sleeping in a regular size double bed for 40+ years, I would often have to get up and s try to sleep on the couch or recliner. Something needed to change.
We bought a king size sleep number bed (actually two twins pushed together). It solved me sleep issues and it works well for the wife.
