Not a big fan of the movie, mostly because we saw too often headlines about Vietnam Vet go crazy and shoots up a place. Vietnam Vet does this bad act or that bad act. The Vietnam Vet was demonized for far too long.

Yeah, I know what you mean about that. My brother and most of his friends who returned home, never even told people they were in Nam, if they dated them , or worked with them. They kept quiet about it. My brother in Law Carl, fought in Korea, and he said nobody even noticed them one way or the other. So one was forgotten one was ignored...and neither should have been. Welcome home.

The guy that wrote the deer Hunter, used to be part of a Comedy duo with a guy named Billy Vader...what a mind that guy must have had.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - I worked with his Comedy Partner, Billy Vader, Their Duo was called: "Quinn and Vader". They did a heck of lot of TV because of Quinn - and Billy says what he learned from Hollywood was this: "Never marry a girl you meet naked at the Playboy Mansion. " Which I think is pretty sound advice. LOL (Billy was a Vietnam Veteran very early in the War."
