Climate change supercharged the heat dome that battered the Pacific Northwest and much of western North America in 2021, according to a new study by Canadian researchers.

That summer’s extreme heat killed an estimated 1,200 people in Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia and did other long-lasting damage.
