Climatology is an arcane branch of physics that never enjoyed much popularity. There wasn't enough money in it to support more than a handful of persons and even those few who pursued it, had to be willing to subsist on substandard wages. However, when requests for Proposals for "scientific" papers proving man-made climate change/crisis began pouring our of government agencies and "concerned" public organizations, every physicist (as well as a few scientists from other disciplines) became a "climate scientist". When churches ruled, "scientists" obeyed the clerics. Although they have been replaced by secular tyrants, the game remains the same. They all rule the masses with fear. Climate crisis and pandemic have replaced Hell as their weapons of choice these days.
