The kids / college students have been taught by the left that Israel represents modern colonialism. The kids want to be part of protests, it is the cool thing to do. There is no sense of historical understanding that Nazi's and many Arabs' hunted Jews worldwide to commit genocide. They are taught that the 'West' colonialism is what caused the Balfour doctrine with an establishment of Jewish state. It is profoundly sad to watch our kid's generation getting tricked.

I have two kids preparing for college right now, so this is very concerning to me. One Junior, one Senior, both highly intelligent and very well-rounded students who will both earn acceptance into very good (possibly elite) colleges. Either one of them would easily earn acceptance into one of the military academies if they continue on the track they're on now. As I watch this ignorant protest, coupled with a disregard for the law and willingness to commit violent acts against innocent people, I am watching with great concern for my kids. Now I ask anyone who thinks these protests aren't a problem, why should my kids choose to attend a college like Columbia for example, where the University leadership refuses to take action against the lawlessness and violence? Because it's a well-known "elite" school? How so?
Right now, in some universities like Columbia, I see ignorant students supporting Hamas (yes, Hamas... Don't try to make a claim they only support the Palestinian people). Several have been interviewed and couldn't even explain what this protest is really about, much less point to Gaza and Israel on a map. They deny the activities on 7 Oct took place, and they refuse to believe the Palestinians overwhelmingly support Hamas. How did they get into such an "elite" university, I must then ask? Then there are teachers taking part in and even enabling this activity on campus as well. Do I want to subject my kids to their style of education? No! Finally, I see university "leaders" trying to walk on a razors edge of allowing this to continue while failing to do their job. That job is to ensure the safety and security of their students, provide the education they've earned their way into (unfettered), and to ensure access to all of the educational opportunities available to their students. The Columbia leadership as failed here and should resign immediately. I will not be sending my kids to any university which refuses to maintain these basic requirements, regardless of whether the protest is directed at my kids or not. This is unacceptable and if my kids were attending that university and prevented from accessing the resources, I would be preparing a lawsuit right now.
Meanwhile I also see other universities not putting up with this BS. University of Texas, UNC Chapel Hill, and others. Allow people to protest all they want. In designated areas which do not hamper other student's rights or ability to participate in their educational experience. Freedom of speech does NOT absolve one from their actions. When a protestor crosses the line of illegal activity or violence, they should absolutely be removed from the activity, expelled/fired, and/or identified to the world to see and take note. Many of these people claim they are for justice, and yet they commit lawless acts, they wear masks (and please, do not try to convince me its health related to wear a mask), and they disrespect law enforcement personnel. I applaud the acts of the universities taking swift and decisive actions and for not putting up with this crap. Shame on you Columbia!
Right now, we're seeing the Che Guevera style ignorance observed in my college days, but on a much grander scale. People idolized him and had no idea who he really was or the horrible actions he took part in. Grow up and educate yourselves people! That is unless you actually know what Hamas is all about and you applaud their actions and violence... In that case you can rot in hell with them.

MAJ Dale E. Wilson, Ph.D.
Whether you agreed or disagreed with the '60s protests, at least they sought peace. These loons are supporting those who practice horrific acts and advocate expanding war in the Middle East. Members of Congress who advocate Hamas, Hezbollah, et al. need to be banned from our Capitol. Just sayin' . . .

College used to be the way to prosperity -- now, useless degrees, forever loan repayment, and pro-terrorism protesting. Think before you send your kids to institutions of "higher" learning
