I agree Jack; either we're getting old or this is history from a different perspective.

LtCol Robert Quinter I think it's the latter, although there's no denying that older thing.

When Nixon took office he ordered the withdrawal of US troops. But he only ordered the withdrawal of 500 troops. I was part of Nixon's 500, as they were called. I was scheduled to PCS on 7 September. I shipped on 25 August. Some deal, huh?
Most of those 500, like me, were close to their scheduled rotation date.

I remember all of this so very well. Maybe we should have used a small nuke against the North. Regarding the ARVIN, I had no sue for them as they did not want to fight, and had no heart for fighting for their country. Why would we warn the North that we were going to bomb them at a certain date, and time. As far as I was concerned they were all " commies " so kill them all weather or not they were in the military. I guess that I'm old school, meaning if you go to war their is no substitute for Victory.
