They should still have an M14 available for sniper rifles. We had some in Iraq in 2004.

I'm glad these soldiers are liking the new weapons. As they become more familiar with them the additional weight will become the natural feel to them. The improved ranging of the 6.8 cartridge more than makes up for a little extra weight.
