I don't recall posting this, but Lenny was a fixture up in our small town. We'd meet up at Jack's Bar on Thursdays for some good conversation and harassment. We had several things in common as Lenny was down in Antarctica many years before I was. We had other similar experiences. We'd laugh about our mutual common refrain "I never worked FOR the CIA".
Lenny was awarded the LOM as an O-3. He'd tell about some O-4 to O-6 ordering him to take the ribbon off the uniform as he was certainly faking it. Lenny would remove it and then make a call to a Pentagon contact, who'd then have the appropriate Flag go into lawn mower mode. Lenny passed from carbon monoxide poisoning from a faulty furnace. His health was pretty poor at the time. We kept him on ice pending the ground thaw in Arlington. Do look up Project Coldfeet. When declassified, the FSB publicly congratulated the US on this feat. There are so many Heros wherever you may be. Seek them out while they are still here.
