You have a good point. This is not a species that died because of humanity encroaching on previous natural habitat. Mammoth died multiple millennia ago for a reason before humans even became dominant.

I read an interesting article about reviving recently extinct species. Inter species gestational periods, fetal size, nursing capabilities etc. are a few of the potential difficulties.
