The administration can once again demonstrate that they are doing something without affecting anything, plus parachutes are cool

At least SOME of the airdropped food will actually reach hungry people. None of the supplies arriving by truck reach anyone who is hungry. Not much is arriving by truck because truck drivers are refusing to drive into Gaza because their trucks are being attacked and destroyed and many drivers have been injured or killed.
Whatever "Humanitarian" aid reaches Gaza immediately comes under the control of Hamas to support their leaders and some of the fighters.
