Yes, we have a problem. We have a segment of our society that believes guns are how you demonstrate your value as a person. This same segment has zero respect for either the law or for the rights of anyone else.

We are legally prohibited from mentioning which segment this is, so we have to pretend that the problem is universal. We cannot consider any solutions that address the specific segment where the problem exists.

Rather than solving the problem, we are attempting to impose solutions that only make the problem worse by creating other segments of the population with similar disrespect for the law.
