Photos reveal vermin, filth and disarray at one Marine Corps barracks

As a Leader and as Preventive Medicine, there are so many levels of failure that everyone should be chastised or fired.
Health and Welfare inspections: I know that the Navy have Corpsmen trained in Preventive Medicine skills. Is there no guidance to have them do health assessments on housing?
The Marines themselves need to be held accountable for the simple fact that I am betting dollars to pesos that work orders were never put in. The lack of cleaning is also a discipline problem. Leaving a dead rat in the middle of the floor? Seriously? I'm not saying that the Marines staying in these barracks are the sole responsible parties to ensure everything is fixed, but there are several tasks they could have done to help reduce the problem.
Leadership: How the hell has NONE of the Marine leadership seen those barracks prior? At no time did anyone in a Leadership role take a stroll to see how the Marines are doing and see those problems and then demand answers regarding the status of ANY work orders submitted?
The Maintenance company: Where in the hell are the work orders? Did the work orders get ignored and/or fudged to say that "everything repaired, all is well?"
There are just way too many failures from the bottom to the top and the top to the bottom.

I have never seen it like that! That is totally unacceptable! When I was in the Corps we had field days every Thursday where we cleaned our barracks. It was then inspected by our squad leaders. Then our platoon sergeant and commander. And when I become an NCO I would never have accepted anything that disgusting.

MSgt (Join to see) When we had field days you could eat off the floor even in the head. If you failed inspection Friday morning you lost weekend liberty. Totally unsat.

MSG (Join to see) The Marines living in these barracks are responsible for their barracks and should never have let them get in this kind of disarray. Leadership (or lack of) needs to be held accountable to the fullest extent.

MSG (Join to see) - I agree. Camp Pendleton is a nice base. I went through ITR there, was briefly stationed there, and went through training exercises there when I was stationed at MCB 29 Palms.
