I will admit that I have been engrossed with the tactical blunders of the Russians in their current conflict with Ukraine and neglected to study the diplomatic history that led to it. I also will admit that I embarrassed at this inasmuch as in my writings on history, I have been critical of American diplomacy which has been equal to Russian military blunders. Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, and others in the post WWII era have caused more wars than they avoided. Indeed, only President Trump has had any diplomatic successes. (And yes, I know that last observation will have some heads exploding.) This lecture has been a real shock for me. Granted, I am not inclined to accept any one person's opinions without challenging them and am sharing this link without first mounting that challenge. However, I hope that I will be forgiven for giving you a head start on your criticism. Of course, there are those few whose criticism will begin and end by dismissing this as right-wing propaganda from Hillsdale College. Please don't burst their bubble by telling them that the content of this lecture is not what they would expect.
