This is a fascinating non-technical discussion of what is happening in AI these days. Funny but when I taught computer applications and programming, I always began my classes with the same observation: "If you want to know the best, fastest, easiest, most efficient and economical way of doing something, find a lazy person and follow them. I am the laziest person you will ever meet. Follow me!" Although I learned that lesson in the Army, it is firmly rooted in the art and science of programming. "Elegance" in coding meant that you instructed the program to complete a task in the fewest possible number of steps (processor turns). It seems that AI is learning this lesson for itself
