I am a hunter. I makes me angry to see an animal killed for a trophy rather than harvested for meat and use. God did not put animals here to decorate our homes. I hunt no more than my family and friends can reasonably use. The hunting laws everywhere should mirror Alaska, which will fine a hunter severely if they take the trophy parts before evacuating all the meat first. Responsible hunting is needed to control the carrying capacity and the population of a species in a habitat.
Habitat can only support so many of each species, and when overpopulation occurs, it is followed by starvation and disease, which can devastate an animal population more than hunting ever could. Controlled and responsible hunting practices preserve more than they damage.

I whole heartedly agree with you. I have always hunted for meat, not the horns.

Makes me ill whenever I hear about those idiots that let the animal just lay there and go to waste. I hope they all get caught and punished to the fullest extent of the law.
