Limitations on the use of vehicles burning fossil fuels is necessary. India implemented the rule that diesel engines can only ply roads for 10 years from Date of Manufacturing and petrol engines for 15 years. Every vehicle must get a Government issued Pollution Certificate to check emissions and reduce pollution levels. This is only one option.

Burning of fossil fuels is a top contributor of pollution across the globe, India in particular, where farmers selling their lands to real estate developers are seen driving around in gas-burning SUVs and expensive diesel engines received as part payment for their acreage. Delhi NCR is one of the most polluted cities largely due to fossil fuels. I am not suggesting electric vehicles because cost exceeds need; however, hybrid vehicles are much more economical and affordable. The hybrid models allows for the use of both fossil fuels and electric power to transport. This implies lower production of fossil fuels to decrease emissions that cause pollution.
