Here we have a classic example of journalists attempting to generate "clicks" rather than simply reporting the news. Or, are they merely acting as propagandists for "experts" who have declared Starship a MISTAKE. "It'll never work!" Musk and his cohorts have operated on the engineering process of iteration. They did it with Falcon, which has become the most reliable and profitable launch vehicle in history. Governments, unrestrained by the notion of generating a profit, produced disposable rockets and We the People in America as well as They the People in every other space faring nation, paid the price (a very high price). Now we see SpaceX at work on Starship. A "disaster?" Hardly. Indeed, it performed magnificently. The first stage performed its task of launching the Starship into space. Yes, it self-destructed. So did many Falcon rockets before they were perfected. Then Starship itself performed magnificently, attaining near orbital speed before the self-destruct mechanism detected and anomaly and detonated. Give this progress, I think its fair to say that SpaceX jumped a couple of iterations to a level of success that may allow them to advance their schedule at least one year.
