Why of course Republicans would object to regulations requiring better care for occupants of long term care facilities!

That is not what they are objecting to, which you would know if you bothered to read the story.

They are objecting to the federal government regulating facilities out of existence.

Which is better 1000 beds staffed to facilitate 90% of medical needs, or 500 beds staffed to facilitate 120% of needs?

If you answered 1000 beds at 90%, congratulations, you are now in agreement with the Republicans.

Democrats: The regulations would require nursing homes to ensure that residents receive a minimum number of nursing care hours each day. Facilities also must have a registered nurse on staff 24 hours a day, seven days a week and expand resident assessment requirements. CMS is still taking feedback on the proposal.

The proposal is billed as a step toward meeting a Biden administration pledge to ensure that America’s 1.2 million nursing home residents “get the safe, high-quality care that they deserve,

Republicans: Hell no, let the old farts die.

Did you read the article?

There is already a critical shortage of nurses. Increasing the staffing requirements I'll shut down fa ilities. Which means sure, the few factors ilities remaining will be better equipped. But even more "old farts" will die because there is no facility bed available.

Guess who will be most affected? Yep... poor folks. Rich folks will still be able to but a bed. Yet another Democrat plan to hurt the poor in the name of helping them.

Sometimes there is more to the situation than a bumper sticker slogan.
