New House Speaker Mike Johnson's appeal to 'God,' 'the Bible’ on House floor sparks debate online...

Nothing wrong with his beliefs. More his behavior.

So, I have observed the criticism from the left, on our Speaker invoking the Bible to describe what influences him. Maybe some should read a little history and note the many historical figures who were inspired by the Bible. From many of our forefathers to even JFK. I've also noted that they are free to use Biblical references when it suits them with little to no criticism from within their own ranks. I've also had pointless arguments from those who do not subscribe to any religion or higher spiritual being/influence. While they are free to feel that way and no one in this country should force them to believe otherwise, I expect them to at least respect those that that do (just as I respect their choice).

There is absolutely nothing wrong with using the Bible as inspiration. It reflects the moral character of individuals. Since I was a kid, I have always known that there are three factors we should all subscribe to in life. Quoting the Scout Oath, "I will do my best... to keep myself physically strong (exercise and be healthy), mentally awake (stay educated), and morally straight (follow the path of your God, spiritual being, or accepted moral values)." I also learned to be reverent, which means to not only to follow your own faith, but to respect the faith of others (regardless of whether they are the same as yours or not). For those who prefer to denounce religion, the Bible/religious texts, or those who proclaim they aren't influenced by either, how do you recommend we promote moral values? What source should people refer to? Should we not have a moral compass to follow?

Mike Johnson is not trying to force this country to become more Christian or less of anything else, except devoid of moral values. This country and this world, for that matter, needs more of that. When you literally have terrorists decapitating children, burning them alive in ovens, in front of their parents, all before they rape the mothers who were forced to watch all this, there is something wrong in this world. When you have people supporting such atrocities in this country, it proves we could definitely use some more examples of moral character from our leadership (whether it be from parents, adults, schools, or our government).

Speaker Johnson has a Biblical Worldview, as evidenced by the following quote from him: "I respect the rule of law, but I also genuinely love all people, regardless of their lifestyle choices. This is not about the people themselves. I am a Bible-believing Christian. Someone asked me today in the media, they said people are curious, what does Mike Johnson think about any issue under the sun? I said, Well, go pick up a Bible off your shelf and read it. That's my worldview, that's what I believe."

Great words. We will have to watch & see if the new Speaker resists the temptations (and there are many in DC) to deviate from what he says. I pray that God protects him, and I know that if he's obedient to God, our Republic will see better days ahead. Do NOT trust men - trust God.
