More than 1,400 people have been killed in Gaza by Israeli airstrikes. Israel says these are in retaliation for missile and gun attacks carried out by the Hamas militant group that killed 1,300.
Israel's siege of the Palestinian territory continues and it says it won't lift humanitarian restrictions unless Hamas frees all hostages. One of the many who have been displaced by the ongoing airstrikes is Nour Suwirki, a Palestinian mother of two, working as a community activist.
She told Newsday that she evacuated her neighbourhood with her family after it was bombed and ''completely destroyed''.
Nour describes how electricity and water has been cut and says she's surviving on tinned food, cheese and bread.
She now says she is "terrified" of the airstrikes and of losing her family. She says that while she has told her children how to survive, there is "no safe place" in Gaza..
