He is correct about Russian antisemitism and being bitter about the success of political zionsim (i.e. Z people) that competed with Marxist ideology, being a very similar political ideology but using religion as ameans to an end , instead of disdaining religion like Marxism. So there was always an ideologicaly competition between the Marxist and the "Z people". He is also correct about the connections U.S.S.R established long ago with that whole tier of nations directly south of what was U.S.S.R. satellite nations - like a "good neighbor". Israel has been full of Russians since before the U.S.S.R. consolidated. Back in the late 1880s a lot of refugees migration because of Russian pogroms targeting Jewish folks In Russia, a majority of whom were in Ukraine and became refugees to Ottoman Palestine where Jewish folks were welcome.

Iran almost seems to be a too convenient enabler as a "master planner" for the terrorism that Russia sponsored many many many decades earlier, including eventually in Iran. Iran was rather late in the game to embrace U.S.S.R. influence compared to the Arabic speaking region, because it had a good economy until its goverment destablized. Its crude oil was known as the sweetest in the region and sold for a high price. And when there was destabilization in Iran, U.S.S.R. got more of a foothold. (Everywhere goverments destablized there was U.S.S.R. collusion at the foundation.)
U.S.S.R. funded terrorist training camps in the 50s and 60s (recall the terrorist groups of the 60s and 70s?) and had the Cubans do much of the training later, like in Yemen. The Russian influence was strong in the middle east - and targeted the disaffected as it did everywhere. Remember the times also that Saddam Hussein tried to get some type of united Arab Republic going in the region, with the encouragement and assistance of U.S.S.R./Russia?
Iran became the boogie man of the region much later after the terrorist cells that became Hezbollah gained mainstream "respect" in Lebanon as a political party. Hamas was more or less an offshot of Hezbollah. Iran was always good for funding and supplying them.
