First let's answer the question posed in the ridiculous picture. Could this actually work? Not in a million years. Or perhaps I should say that it would work in a million years because that is about how long it would take a solar panel that size to charge an EV.
The idea of "parking lot canopies" is not as practical as the video suggests -- while such solar panels might eventually recoup the acquisition and installation costs, they do not give a favorable return on investment.
Bottom line - solar power is only "practical" when it is heavily subsidized by the government taking money from taxpayers to give to the businesses involved.
But if you Follow The Money you find that most of that money is going to people and places tax payers would not approve if asked "Would you like to send money to China" or "Would you like to give a bonus to your politicians"
