I doubt the Democrats are "panicing" over too much with Trump. With him, the lines are set. He has a cap of support he can garner. Even better, while he has an extermely motivated base, there is a much larger base of people who are extremely motivated to never allow him into office again. Those people would vote for a turnip if they thought it would keep him from regaining office.
