A1C Medrick "Rick" DeVaney - That's funny. Were you simply bored by it? Sometimes math is truly made either over-explaining what is obvious, an not mentioning what is vital to understanding. Perhaps, more simply it is a matter of a less than excellent educator. I figured out that simply knowing the rules made Algebra user friendly, and enjoyed it..
What I didn't get was geometry and trig, then later Calculus, because I did not fully understood how a 2D xy axes graph can represent a 3D object . . . until recently. There was never a simple explanation about that in classes or the books. Simple 2D length and width is evident, but not 3D represented by 2D axes.
There is no sense in a 2D plot without a simple explanation of how we are using it to actually deal with a 3D object . . . moving outward from the perspective of one radius from the point of origin in the center of the sphere (the size determined by the length of x and y axes); OR a volume of a specific 3D shape within a sphere. It is possible to creatively figure out other relational ratios between and among variables (e.g. volume, mass, velocity) starting with figuring out the xy info and using how the object is identified.
Perhaps that was all clear to other people, but a brief explanation would have made it clear to a lot more people!

I Doubt I Was Bored, But I May Have Been Sleeping.
Actually, I Just Never Understood Algebra. I Failed It In The 8th Grade, In Lansing, MI
And In 9th Grade In Panama. .. And At No Time Did I Have A Clue What I Was Doing.
Algebra Just Did Not Make Sense; I Simply Understood None Of It.
