I have a question about this issue as well as “affirmative action”. If we are all created equal, as established by both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, then why do we continue to advocate for establishing a race affirmation in re-districting. Would this not develop into a continued process of women not being fairly represented, or the LBGTQ+ community. So where does it end. Instead of identifying by race, sex, believes, gender identity, etc, why not return to the basic values of our founding documents. Additionally, how is black person or community deprived of its representation by being represented by a white representative? Could you not reverse the argument, when a white person is represented by a black person in a largely white district? I believe we will not get past race and other issues until we begin to see ourselves not in identity by simply being an individual under the same opportunities and protections of our founding documents.

I find it very difficult to respond to your response as it quite biased and opinionated. I will agree with only one point in your response; no we do not live in a perfect society and we never will. Our country has had many instances of acts against many ethnic groups, Chinese, Japanese, Irish, Jews, etc. Yet, at the heart and soul of our great nation, are the founding principals which established our great nation. Upon these principals, we move forward to achieve these principals; life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for all. One last point. One of the most assessments of a nation accepting another race it the marriage and co-mingling of one race with the other. Interracial marriages of black and white is up significantly and becoming widely accepted.

Keep it respectful. As a reminder, you can advocate for your position forcefully and demean the other's position as much as you like. However, vulgarity is not allowed and those that continue to violate the community standards risk getting an enforced time-out and repeated violations may get them a permanent one.
