Last week, I went on a one week road trip. We drove from Alberta into Montana and as far south as Pocatello, Idaho.
Last thursday, we drove into butte, Montana in the evening. We noticed a bright figure in the distance 20 miles out being illuminated on top of a Ridgeline. It was the 90 ft statue of the Virgin Mary called the Lady of the Rockies. The statue was built on private land even though the Army Reserve and National Guard helped put sections of the statue together. They used a SkyTrain helicopter.
The statue looks magnificent even from 3500 ft below.
There is talk of putting a tram up to the statue. Time will tell if they get the funding or of construction ever gets completed.
