First, I don't know the situation associated with the union negotiations. This comment is directed at the flyer discussed in the article. It's a bad world out there. Within the past 4 years violent street crime has become commonplace in the US. This crime isn't limited to our major "blue" cities, but impacts any and all cities and towns who have embraced "wokeism" and hostility to the law enforcement community. I strongly suspect that New Haven and the Yale Campus are probably as woke as you are likely to find.
Returning to the flyer, all of the advice is good advice even when hooliganism isn't rampant.
1. Stay off the streets after 8 PM.
2. Do not walk alone.
3. Avoid public transportation.
4. Remain on campus.
5. Protect your property.
Do not walk alone. A large mixed group of people is a much more daunting target to cowardly predators. When I was was in college and university, I was always hot on the trail of "Miss Right, or "Miss Right Now". I am sure that there are still some young men out there following the same tactic. These rules will not prevent every criminal act, However, their consideration when making plans will prevent a significant number of "GOTCHA" moments.
