So, if that’s what is fueling all these shootings, the logical solution would be to ban social media. Oh, wait. That would be against the First Amendment.

OR go after the issues that cause youth to feel they have to join gangs - because it's ultimately the gangs fueling it. Not social media. They just use social media as an avenue. You won't stop gang violence banning social media -obviously it's existed for how long.

Most kids join a gang because they feel they have no other choice or pressured into it. So find ways to make them see it's not their only choice. It's a pretty complex issue that won't be solved on here nor will I bother to go into it with you.

We have created an environment where anyone can say anything without consequences. Back in the day, everyone would have to take a split second before speaking to ask themselves, “If I say this, will I get my ass kicked?”

Social media is the worst thing to happen to society in my lifetime.

SGM (Join to see) - Reading the article it's primarily about gang violence. Teens flashing cash and guns online or calling out rivls and then it spreads farther than it would just in the local area.

It's the same stuff that's been happening with gangs for years when they used graffitti or tagging. It's a new outlet...that reaches more people.

So people aren't saying things "without consequence" when you have teens getting murdered by a rival gang for something they posted.

SFC Kelly Fuerhoff - Yeah, I get that, but we are also talking about people posting these pics for likes/views. My comment was more about how people use social media as a place to be mean, show off, or project an image. It breeds narcissism and degrades basic respect toward other people.
