Police in Montgomery, Ala., say that they have not found evidence that last weekend's riverfront brawl — in which a large number of people squared off against each along racial lines — rises to the level of a hate crime.
However, a week later, people who have seen videos of the fight, including experts, pundits and social media users, remain divided: Some are saying race had nothing to do with the incident, while others say the footage clearly shows how groups divided by race.
What's certain is that the incident has reignited conversations about race across the U.S.

No Black Security Guard in Alabama has a right to tell a bunch of STUPID , DRUNK, WHITE Rednecks?
Really? Not a Hate Crime? Well it is Alabama and they are still in the 1830's. Of course they are also quite upset over the fact that the DOI did not say that only All Straight White men were equal.

This was a hunch of redneck drunk ass boaters that were wrong on every account. The law should have been called earlier when they tied off and were drunk boating under the influence. The security guard by all.rights had the right to ask them to move so the river boat could dock...but seeing they were drunk he could have backed off and let the cops handle it. Was this a race issue, jury still.out for me....I don't think they went there with the intentions of fighting a black man...but when the expletives started flying that's where race came in...I am sure it went both ways when the white guys instigated it...they should have gotten in their boat and just left...

The man in the fight said that it was not racial, it was just a bunch of drunk rednecks, but apparently national news had not furfilled the racist platform for the day.
