Since I have spent a lot of time thinking about this issue. I have come to the conclusion that part of the problem is we are not going into the world where they live. I read an article about young people who were interviewed and asked what, for us, would be straightforward questions. They didn’t even recognize the terms, They live easily in the digital world and try to keep up with school and extra curriculum activities. Our forces are leaning more to the type of skills they have, those they have been using since kindergarten,. Need to set up an IPad? Ask a 7 year old. With cyber forces and remote operation, these are the skills to recruit for, The Army we knew no longer exists and they are fighting a different war with different tools. Of course, they have been playing call of duty and other games which make them decide what action to take next. Cpl Vic Burk how do your students use the term. “Woke “ or are they too busy trying to learn the day’s lesson?
