No. Not saying no means they didn't say no. That's all it means. It doesn't mean yes, maybe, Bsolutely, we're not sure, no comment, Zaphod Beeblebrox, purple cars, or any other words or phrases you want to insert.
It doesn't even mean that the answer is NOT 'no.' It just means they didn't SAY 'no.' End of story.

Are you taking lessons in English from Harris? All I said was: Not being able to specifically say "No." means one of the two brought the drug into the White House. They have video of the area; they know who left the drugs there. It is very simple.

SFC (Join to see) And I said your assertion is demonstrably wrong.
You are putting words in their mouth. They didn't say "no." That doesn't mean the answer is "yes." It doesn't even mean the answer is NOT "no." It just means they didn't SAY "no."
This is the old "pleading the fifth means you are guilty" fallacy.
All not answering the question means is that they didn't answer it. Any other interpretation is conjecture - at best.

I don't disagree with this perspective. Since the GOP is using this story to play politics, the WH responding to it would also be a political act. Therefore, the Hatch Act applies (although the optics are certainly not good). Trump is a declared Presidential candidate, and he is making this assertion and pushing this narrative. This is politics, plain and simple. I will agree that it comes across as "avoiding the question".

SFC (Join to see) - The question wasn't about the drugs simply being in the WH. The question was about whose drugs they were, with a clear implication that they belonged to the President or his son. And, the question wasn't asked to the President, so the fact that he didn't answer is immaterial to the broader assertion regarding the Hatch Act.

LTC Kevin B. - You are correct sir; the question was about whose drugs they were. The White House Deputy Press Secretary Andrew Bates speaks for the President as his title implies. It is perfectly acceptable for him to answer questions for the President. If he can’t, President Biden needs to get another Deputy Press Secretary. MHO

SFC (Join to see) - Yes, he does speak for the President, but if the question is a political question (which this one was), he shouldn't be answering that while on the taxpayers' dime. We don't pay him to do anyone's political work.

LTC Kevin B. - I disagree. As per the article the exact quote is: “White House deputy press secretary Andrew Bates was asked during a Thursday press gaggle whether the president can deny that he or his son owned the cocaine found at the White House”.
There is evidence of a crime that was committed here. Everything that goes on in the White House the President is responsible for. This was not a political question. This was a straight up question of who did illegal acts in the White House. In my opinion he needs to be answering this question, the President needs to be answering this question. The people have a right to know what’s happening in “their” house. MHO.
We disagree. I will agree to disagree with you.
