I would be totally open for a "World Religion" class in High School. It lets the kids know what other cultures hold important according to faith. Let them study the Islamic Qur'an , Christian Bible, Hindu Veda, or the Buddhist Lotus Sutra. They can study key sections, and possibly make comparisons.

It's called education for a reason. It's not a matter of Right or Wrong, but rather, what do others believe and value.

The problem arises when you have extremist, that's when terror takes over in any religious ideology.

I don't think it's a good idea. I mean the idea of the teaching of the bible is a good thing, but with separation of church and state there will be litigation that the taxpayers have to foot the bill for, and they will ultimately lose in the Supreme Court.
It's playing with fire, knowing that you're going to get burned, just to get attention.

That said, I think that education is a states rights issue, not a federal one. States should be able to teach what is required, and this could be considered an extra curricular or maybe a college entrance type class.
