Not sure if this TV series is available in the USA since it's a Canadian production of crave TV but maybe it is available on other formats.
Little Bird (6 part mini-series)
Synopsis:
Bezhig Little Bird was adopted into a Jewish family at the age of five, being stripped of her identity and becoming Esther Rosenblum. Now in her 20s, Bezhig longs for her family she lost and the fill the missing pieces.
Her Quest lands her in the Canadian prairies were she discovers that she was one of the generation of children forcibly apprehended by the Canadian government through a policy, later coined 'the 60s scoop'.
The Canadian government has acknowledged cultural genocide and it still happens to this day.
This particular show focuses on the 1960s scoop. Some of the kids were even sent to the USA.
Even to this day, If a white little kid is running around on the front yard with a diaper unattended, the social workers really won't do much but if it's a native Canadian indian, you bet they will come out and question the family and bring the police to apprehend the kids and put them in temporary or permanent foster care.
Racism still exists in Canada. Some of this may also happen in the American states with large Indian Reservations.
This is a must- see mini -TV series.
