...""The Vikings actually weren't only conquerors. They were also storytellers. Their main thing was trade and telling stories," Ólafs tells NPR's Morning Edition host Leila Fadel. "They were very early in terms of human history in writing things down, and they were writing poetry. So I would say something that people generally don't know about my ancestors, the Vikings, is that they were quite sort of into the arts and they preserved art in some ways.""...

Since Minnesota has a lot of Viking blood, 47th division of the Minnesota Army National Guard had this symbol. But I was mobilized for Korea but didn't go because of exposure to toxic gases and his cbrn course and could not deploy. He eventually got 100% disability from the Veterans Administration in 1999 after having Decades of asthma and I'm sure his use of steroids and other inhalants caused his lung cancer. He suffered asthma the remainder of his life but he still was able to get on to the LA County Sheriff's department and serve their long enough to get a retirement. He passed away in 1992 but I still have his Viking division mobilization yearbook.

Just like Alberta Canada has 10% ukrainians from ukrainians who came here way before the fall of the czar, many Scandinavians move to Minnesota over the centuries. Just to give you some context on why the Viking symbol was picked by this Army division
