Fairly sure wheat is not as profitable as opium, but if the article is not a propaganda piece, the Taliban is doing at least one thing right. They still suck tough.

Ban was not introduced until 2022. Taliban are armed because some local farmers are angry at the new decree. Wheat as a substitute is less profitable than poppy (US company tried introducing saffron but it is obscure in Afghanistan due to involving Afghan women.)
