Pressure is growing for a boycott of Florida, including Latino truck drivers who vow to stop deliveries across the state and calls for an immigrant labor strike on June 1. Businesses are pledging to shutter their doors for the day to protest Gov. Ron DeSantis' sweeping new immigration law.
For years, the Republican presidential hopeful has railed relentlessly against U.S. immigration policies and newly arrived asylum seekers. Senate Bill 1718, which takes effect on July 1, will offer a preview of the controversial changes DeSantis has said he'd like to see Congress implement.
Among its provisions, the strict new state legislation limits social services for undocumented immigrants, allocates millions more tax dollars to expand DeSantis' migrant relocation program, invalidates driver's licenses issued to undocumented people by other states, and requires hospitals that get Medicaid dollars to ask for a patient's immigration status.

The only businesses that are upset are the ones that exploit illegals for labor and I have no sympathy for them. Since apparently NPR hasn't been to Florida, the Majority of the Latino community in Florida are Cuban or Puerto Rican, the former here legally and largely US Citizens (my best man is one of the original Castro Refugees) and the latter are US Citizens. I haven't found any great love for illegal hispanics in either community.
Let's quit changing the language to make things look better for one side. You are either a legal immigrant that went through the process to enter the country under one of the legal Visa programs, or you are breaking the law and you are an illegal alien.
I despise the Democratic Party because the new Progressives have just thrown the Working Class under the bus of whatever popular new group is the cause of the day.

SFC John Davis - Lack of enforcement of the immigration laws has gutted the working class. I work in the Construction Industry and I have personally seen the what happens when cheap labor shows up, it replaces those workers that were actually making a living wage. I've worked around hundreds of crews that 95% illegals and in spite of the justification that they show and work harder, they don't. The illegals are just regular guys that goof off when the boss isn't around, get drunk and get thrown in jail, or get in trouble and go back home. Most of them are pretty nice guys, but they cut the wages of another nice guy that has to compete against them.
Now I would much sooner see them enforce from the top down and hit the employers first. The first time some CEO got thrown in jail for six months, those jobs would disappear.
