Actually Lia Thomas is right and the way some "feminists" want to exclude trans women are the same "feminists" who have tried to exclude women of color from the feminism movement for years. The arguments about trans people are nearly verbatim to the criticisms of women of color for years and not want to acknowledge black women as women, for example.

I'm not surprised by the comments on here because 99% of the people agreeing with Martina have absolutely no idea what they are talking about and I guarantee have never, ever once supported women's sports in their life. I would bet anything that these people have made jokes about women's professional sports or even high school and college sports and said it's not "real" sports at some point in their lives.

There are studies showing that trans women who have undergone testosterone suppression have no clear biological advantages over cis women in elite sport. All these bills that are coming up are nowhere based in any science and facts are just based on bigotry and ignorance.

This report was published this year: https://www.cces.ca/sites/default/files/content/docs/pdf/transgenderwomenathletesandelitesport-ascientificreview-e-final.pdf

"Often missing from the culture-war aspect of the debate is a focus on the type of questions that Dr. Eric Vilain has spent much of his career researching. Vilain, a pediatrician and geneticist who studies sex differences in athletes, says there are no good faith reasons to limit transgender women's participation in sports, especially at the high school level. Vilain has advised both the International Olympic Committee and the NCAA, and says these laws generally aren't based in scientific evidence, but rather "target women who have either a different biology or ... simply look different.""

There are cisgender athletes who have natural advantages over other cisgender athletes. I don't see anyone mad when a cisgender girl is 6'3" in 9th grade so she gets to play varsity over someone who is 5'4". Or there are cisgender women who have naturally higher levels of testosterone through no fault of their own - no one has ever gone after that. The list goes on...men or women there are people who have advantages that even transgender people don't have. Michael Phelps - everyone celebrated his genetic differences. He has a disproportionately vast wingspan, double jointed ankles, produces half the lactic acide of a typical athlete so he was able to excel over other swimmers because of that. No one went after him. No one said he needs corrective surgery on his ankles or he should take something that makes him produce the normal amount of lactic acid. But trans women athletes come up - who are not exceeding cisgender women on a regular basis on any sport - or you have cisgender women who produce higher levels of testosterone and people want to ban them.
