Following national uproar over the shooting of 16-year-old Ralph Yarl, protesters are showing up in Kansas City's Northland, the federal courthouse and KCPD headquarters. Here's what you need to know when you're organizing or attending a protest in Kansas City.
The shooting of 16-year-old Ralph Yarl Thursday night in Kansas City’s Northland, and an initial decision by police to allow the suspected gunman to go home after being questioned, have brought protesters to both new and familiar places around the city.
Beginning Sunday, hundreds of people have shown up on the 1100 block of Northeast 115th Street in Kansas City, which is where Yarl knocked on the wrong door as he was trying to pick up his younger brothers.

This takes me back to the shooting of a Black woman in Michigan looking for help after her car broke down and the old White man shot her through his screen door then claimed stand your ground. These laws encourage bad actors to kill then claim self defense. Saw it with Trayvon Martin. Saw it with the Black jogger in Georgia. Now the guy in TX that the governor wants to pardon. It's disgusting.

Capt Gregory Prickett Martin was not justified as you had a vigilante stalking a teen boy and Martin had the right to defend himself.
As for Perry, I won't argue if the governor want to commute the sentence of a convicted murderer but to pardon is to expunge his record with the implication he's not guilty. Don't you pardon someone wrongfully convicted and commute the guilty for good behavior? Thus Abbott is saying Perry was justified in his actions against peaceful protesters who had the right to defend themselves from an aggressive driver.

Capt Gregory Prickett First of all, we only have Zimmerman's word that Martin was trying to kill him. Unfortunately, dead men can't give their side of the story. And a 16 yo Black boy will never be able to be heard. Zimmerman was clearly the aggressor and the truth died that night.
How often do we see pardons? When evidence that exonerates the convicted. How often do we see pardons for guilty individuals that show no remorse for their crimes? Sadly that's becoming more common.
